Argh, I hate being out of rum. This was the one I purchased after 4 rumless weeks. It was nice getting to know the V/X.
It's great to use with.. well, everything. All the people I know have only Bacardi Blanco on the shelf for sipping, using in cocktails and what else.
They should use this one. It's perfect for a good sip. And more. It got me interested in the Appleton Estate line, I'm curious to find out what the rest has to offer.

Kate,

It's great to see so many people who bemoan the false mai tais that have become so ubiquitous. It's time to turn the tide!

Mahalo for the kind words!

Bravo! I clicked through from Tastespotting to see if this was a true Mai Tai, and as person whose family lives in Hawai'i, we take the subject seriously and defend against the use of pineapple juice or grenadine, which have no place in a Mai Tai. This sounds two thumbs up. Da'Kine! Mai Tai! The best.

Forrest:

I totally agree that it's fantastic with lime and little else, but to my way of thinking, that means it's not sufficient as a sipper. A sipper should be sipped neat. Still, I don't want to take anything away from this rum. It is absolutely one of my all-time favorites.

Well Dood, you nail it!!
i love the v/x and i am glad you feel the same way. i would say, on the rock with a hard pull of lime this is a fine, fine sipper (of course that is a meager ingredient away from being a cocktail... so i'll concede your point..)

Glad to see your thoughts on the V/X Dood. It's my go-to for a Jamaican rum for mixing. I've been into it since I went to Negril about 8 years ago, a time which long predates my interest in cocktails and spirits. Sometimes you just hit the mark through sheer luck...
