Aloha! Nice job on the review, photo, recipes, etc. All the comments are thoughtful as well. Maui Gold Rum is in the $15.00 to $17.00 ranges at many Hawaii stores, with a full list on the website. You can save money buying it on any Hawaiian island and bringing it back. It is perfectly legal to transport in CHECKED luggage on any airline, but do not try to carry it on. TSA will take it away (and probably take it home with them). Hi Time Wine Cellars offers all the rums and the Okolehao at their retail store in California. The 80 proof rums are $19.99 per bottle right now. They also do internet sales, but I do not know how much that adds to the cost. Worth checking, though, www.hitimewine.net

Jesse: That's what I've heard. Like I said above, I think that at $15 it's an amazing bargain. At $30 it ventures into "overpriced."

At half the price, I'd consider the Maui a great value. So in Maui I'd call it a great value, but here on the mainland, it's just a tad too pricey.

It is, indeed, much less expensive in Hawaii -- by about half on Maui itself. Good stuff, but I like the Platinum even better.

I wonder how much of the price point is due to the cost of shipping between Maui and the mainland? If they have their rums in ABC stores I'm sure it's less expensive on the islands, so this may be an ideal choice for those of us who can't afford to shell out double the mainland price for cheaper Stateside brands like Mount Gay.

Just a thought, anyway.
