Haitian Libations – Raising Money For Haiti

Haitian Libations – Raising Money For Haiti post image

I’ve been dying to get this post up, but details had to be worked out, charities and owners consulted, but finally I can announce that I’ll be helping out at the Haitian Libations Charity Event at Vertical Wine Bistro in Pasadena on February 6th.

From 10pm until close, 50% of all wine, bar, and food profits at Vertical Wine Bistro will be going to Artists for Peace & Justice.  What’s more, myself, Matt from Mattatouille, and Fiona from GourmetPigs will be helping out behind the bar, serving a special menu of cocktails for guests.

Cocktails will include the Vieux Carre, the Aviation, and the Port-Au-Prince – an original cocktail generated during one of the Thursday Drink Night events and tweaked to use Barbancourt 8 Year Old Rhum from Haiti.

I’m really excited about the event.  It will be my first time working behind the bar “for real,” and I can’t think of a better time to do it than to help out the people of Haiti.  So if you’re in the LA area, please be sure to come down to the Vertical Wine Bistro in Pasadena on February 6th between 10 pm and 2 am for some good drinks for a good cause.

Port-Au-Prince

1.25 oz Rhum Barbancourt 8
.75 oz Benedictine
.5 oz Maraschino
.75 oz Lime Juice

Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Of course, if you can’t make it to the event, there are plenty of other ways to help out the people of Haiti.
