As we come to the end of Jeff “Beachbum” Berry Week it just so happens that we are not only celebrating the any-day-now arrival of Jeff’s newest book, Beachbum Berry Remixed, but also the Bum’s own birthday!
There are so many great drinks to actually choose from. The Miehana, the Coconaut, the Bum’s Rush, the Kiliki Cooler…
Beachbum’s Own
1.5 oz Light Rum
1 oz Demerara Rum
.75 oz Licor 43
.75 oz Orange Juice
.75 oz Lemon Juice
.75 oz Pineapple Juice
.75 oz Passion Fruit SyrupShake with ice and strain into a Tiki mug or tall glass full of crushed ice.
I’ve been working my way through many of Jeff’s own Tiki creations this week. After a few of them I decided to ask Jeff which of his original cocktails was his favorite.
I alternate between the Ancient Mariner and the Beachbum’s Own, depending on mood and the company (I’ll serve Tikiphiles the Beachbum’s own, while more skeptical “civilians” get the Mariner…)
I have to confess that the Ancient Mariner is probably my favorite of Jeff’s drinks and further that I had never had the Beachbum’s Own. This was the kind of challenge I needed!
The result? Wow. Just wow. This drink is delicious.
It’s light and just sweet enough and in typical JB3 fashion, even with all of those ingredients you can taste everything. The different flavors of vanilla, orange, pineapple, rum and more all come at you in waves. Beachbum’s Own is just delightful. There’s no other way to describe it.
