This coming Sunday – April 14, 2013 – I’ll be working my normal shift at 320 Main.
I say normal, but we’re going to do something different this week as I take part in Gaz Regan’s movement called Just One Shift. The movement is trying to get bartenders to donate one shift’s tips to Wine To Water – a non-profit organization dedicated to seeing people of the world get clean water.
I saw Gaz advertising various bartenders taking part and it occurred to me that as a person who is still a coder first and bartender second, it would be inexcusable for me to not participate. Bar tips are my walking-around money, and surely I can do without them for one week (yes, it’s one shift, but I only work one shift a week most weeks).
So if you’re in or near Orange County on Sunday, April 14th, come into 320 Main any time from 6pm to 10:30pm and sit at the bar and have a drink or two. Have some dinner. Enjoy yourself and TIP HEAVY because all of my tips are going to a good cause.*
*NOTE: Just so that no one can accuse me of misleading anyone, the only tips going to charity are MY tips. These are tips left at the bar. If you come in and sit at a table, your servers’ tips will NOT be going to charity. You should still tip heavy because we have some amazing staff at 320 Main, but only tips for me are raising money for Wine To Water.

That is pretty awesome! And a truly great and inspiring idea by Mr. Regan.
